Maxing Out: The Weekly Hodgepodge

Want to join the party?  Go on over to From This Side of the Pond  for the Hodgepodge link-up!

What's a phrase your mother often said to you? If you're a parent, is this something you now say to your own children?
When I was kid, if my mom asked me to do something and I mouthed off about not wanting to (which didn't happen often), she would say, "Did I ASK you what you wanted?"  I said that to kids in my preschool class and the kids in my family all the time. They gave me the same answer I gave my mom, "No, ma'am."  And we all did what we were supposed to do.
What is a scent you associate with your mother or your childhood home?
Two actually.  Fried chicken and roses.  Not together.  :)

What's an activity you remember always doing with your mother (or someone who was a mother figure in your life)?
Gardening.  I get my green thumb from my mom.  Every spring, we got our yards ready for the various blooming seasons.  We had azaleas and late blooming pansies in the spring; roses, irises, various lilies, and other bulbs for late spring/early summer; annuals like petunias and sunflowers for summer; crepe myrtles and gladiolas for late summer and fall; then back around to pansies and everything in between.  In time, I'll have my own house and be able to take up my shovel and trowel again.
Flared jeans, maxi dresses, and jumpsuits are 70's fashion trends back this spring. Are you on board? Which trend would you be most inclined to try? For the men...flared corduroys, wide-collared shirts, and floral prints...what say you?
Maybe the maxi dress IF it looked like THIS on me...

May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Day and also Nurse Appreciation Day. Is there a nurse or teacher  you have especially appreciated along the way? Tell us why?
Teacher:  My band director, Homer Smith.  Nurse:  My niece Crystal.  She's a great nurse and I'm so proud of her.
If I came by your house, what would I find on your frig door?
Well, I have a roommate, so all the refrigerator decorations are her magnets and great grandchildren's artwork.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana made her royal entrance on Saturday, May 2nd. On a scale of 1-10, how much attention did you give to all the news coverage? 1=Who's Charlotte? 10=sat glued to the telly, cuppa in hand.
2 = Hmm..the royals had a baby girl.  Oh look!  Only 122 days until football season.  ROLL TIDE!
Insert your own random thought here.
Coming later today, the first installment of the A-Z challenge.  Stay tuned.

  1. I'm not into any of those fashions either because none of them would look good on me.

    1. I was born in the 70's. Those fashions didn't look good on me then; they certainly won't look good on me now. Oh well. Thank goodness for the 80's. :)

    1. Yeah, like I said, at the time, I didn't have any ideas nor energy for the challenge. So, I'll take it as it comes. Call me a rebel. :)
