Five Minute Friday: "Hold"

Our Mistress of Ceremonies for the Five Minute Friday is Kate over at Heading Home.  Hope you link up with us and join the fun.

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Isaiah 41:13 (King James)

GO!

HOLD PLEASE!

I'm so tired of hearing that!

What to do with a life that has been on hold.  Do I continue to hold--hold on to unfulfilled dreams, empty promises, and empty arms?  Or do I let go--acquiesce to the disappointment and live in the shadows of other's fulfilling lives?  Hold it!  That doesn't sound like me.  I'll keep holding.

What to do with stuff I've held onto for too long.  Anger, jealousy, bitterness, hurt, offense, shame, self hatred, grief--those are the things to stop holding.  It's like holding a pee for too long.  If I continue to hold, it will cause damage (especially if I keep adding to it), then just explode all over me for all to see.  If I get in the right place to let it go, it's so refreshing.  Plus, I can flush it away and never have to see it again.

FULL STOP!

  1. I believe you've been in my head! You're following me on FMF but I'm so glad I popped over! God is working (sometimes slowly) in me to release the pain, bitterness, hurt, etc. from a life on hold, and relationships gone wrong. So very thankful for God's amazing GRACE that works in me to draw closer to Him. Praying you're able to release your stuff.

  2. Ha! I loved that metaphor! It's true... it is sorta like holding our pee. Much better to let it out.

Praying peace in your life as you navigate this season of being "on hold." OH have I been there! Treat each moment as though it's training for when the "holding" is over... trust me, it's ALL part of it. *hugs* from 5MF

  3. Never thought of HOLDing to ill-feelings in that way! Appreciate the way you linked them up.

What I learned from life, though the hard way, is to ignore! Ignore to the extent that ill-feelings to do not develop because once they get there, ignoring is not an option. You either have to spit it out or it corrodes you. Two cents from a fellow FMFer!

    1. Ignoring is hard. I'm the kind of person who feels things deeply.
