Five Minute Friday: "Limit"

Our Mistress of Ceremonies for the Five Minute Friday is Kate over at Heading Home.  Hope you link up with us and join the fun.

GO!

Speed limit.
Pushing the limit.
Time limit.
Limited income.
Term limits.
Breaking through the limits.
Credit card limit.

Seems as though some people in the world think it's their job to try to put limits on others to make themselves feel powerful.  Limits are an invisible barrier people use to hide insecurity.

In fitness, we are told to push beyond the limits of our bodies.  Biggest Loser contestants passing out or throwing up out the window are touted as positive role models for pushing the limits.  Yet most fitness professionals say that level of strenuous activity isn't necessary for success.

So when do I push the limits in my life, and when do I back off?  When is the push truly dangerous and when am I just being a wuss?

STOP!

  1. Hi Shannon--
Visiting from fmf. I love the first question in the last paragraph. I have no problem pushing the limits in what I think I can handle in my life, it's the backing off i struggle so very hard with.

The world says, do all while Jesus says, do less. And sometimes I wonder if that's even possible.

Thank you for sharing this. :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Julia. My problem is learning to say "no" and mean it. I heard Jon Acuff say that we need to say yes slowly and no quickly because we have a limited number of yeses. He is so right.

  2. Shannon,
Stopping by from FMF. I think we as human beings are prone to going way past our limit. We pay for it dearly a whole lot of the time. We would be much better off if we would lean on God to show us our limits. Have a blessed weekend.

    1. Hey Lynette, thanks for commenting. Something I heard Joyce Meyer say years ago. She said that the main thing we need to strive for in every area of our lives is balance. I'm just now starting to get this.
