For Today:  Sunday, December 7, 2014

Outside my window … Sunday is drawing to a close with dusk settling over Bearcat Country.

I am thinking... about Christmas.  I probably shouldn't do that.  I was bombarded with more "family" things I should be doing.  I know that mine, like most, is a family church and they need families to grow and succeed.   However, is "family" the only way to do anything worthwhile for God in life?   If it is, I'm screwed.

Something good I'm thinking about is something I forgot to give thanks for yesterday:

I am thankful for thrift stores that sell good books.
I had to sell a lot of my books to make ends meet.
It's nice to be getting some of them back plus some for just pennies on the dollar.

I am thankful...

I'm thankful for God's protection:

I got a couple of miles from church and heard my tire start to go flat.  I tried to keep going, but the banging got worse.  When I pulled over, the tire looked like this.

...ok, it was worse than that.

I am thankful for friends willing to help:

Thanks, Jimmy!
My doughnut and I will go get a real tire when I'm out Tuesday...hopefully.

In the kitchen...  Don't know. Don't care.

I am wearing... bedclothes.

I am creating...

I finished up the frog project and several doggie Christmas stockings.  I working on a tree skirt, a couple of hats, more stockings, and a wreath project.  I'm hoping to be done with everything by December 20th and take a couple of weeks off to rest and regroup.  I have so many creative ideas floating in my noggin.

I am going...  Nowhere else today.  I've already been to church and worship band practice.

I am wondering... about my emotional level again.  I'm not even wasting space writing about it again.

I am reading... Finished Front Porch Tales by Philip Gulley (my review is here). I am reading The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, and Laugh Again by Chuck Swindoll.

I am hoping... for help, real help.  Our Pastor today talked about Christmas being a season of miracles.  I hope so; I need a buttload of them.

I am looking forward to...
I know this sounds like I'm nuts, but I'm looking forward to my dental appointment Tuesday.  I've already had fillings this year, so this will be a cleaning that will make my teeth nice and pretty again.  It will also give me incentive to take better care of them.

I am learning
… about love; what it is and what it isn't.

Around the house... Tomorrow is laundry day.

I am pondering...  the same things I'm thinking about, I guess.

A favorite quote for today...

"The best use of life is love." - Rick Warren

One of my favorite things... Bottled water with sports caps.

A few plans for the rest of the week:   Dental appointment and subbing at JCA Tuesday.  Replacing my doughnut with a real tire.  Attending a wedding with my mom Saturday.

A peek into my day...  I think y'all have had enough.  I know I have.

  1. No family needed, I promise. Just a heart for Christ! I know, however, churches can be insensitive about family issues from divorce to childlessness, entirely without meaning to.
