For Today:  Monday, September 22, 2014

Outside my window … The hope that the bright morning sun will brighten my dark mood.  I've got an exclamation point over my head, and I don't like it.  I want to stay home away from people today, but I know that will only make things worse.  Isolation is never a good idea; it makes me brood.

I am thinking... about my hard weekend.  Thinking about how to have a good week.  A few thing happened that brought out some old feelings and food triggers.  I fought to not give in, but I did.  An old hurt from my college days resurfaces every new football/marching band season.  I have yet to find closure for it and it's affected my whole weekend.  I am still fighting the urge to crawl into the dark hole of depression this morning.  I can't--I won't let it ruin my whole week.  I've got too much to do to be distracted by this mess.

I am thankful... for the peaceful solace of a cup of coffee and listening to the birds sing.  My tweeting friends will be gone soon and I want to enjoy them while I can.

In the kitchen...  With my mood, I probably shouldn't eat anything, but that's not practical.

I am wearing... tank top and shorts.

I am creating...
Still working on the baby set.  Working on some orders in the Workshop.  Yay!

I am going...  hopefully to the gym and to run errands.  That should boost my mood.

I am wondering... will there really ever be a time when the struggles of life don't drive me to the refrigerator?

I am reading...  Still reading Christian Beliefs by Wayne Grudem and The Diva Principle by Michelle McKinney Hammond.  Also started White Chocolate Moments by Lori Wick.

I am hoping... for a good productive week.  I'm hoping for my mood to improve.  I'm hoping for an answer to my issue.

I am looking forward to...
the weekend.  I know, it's only Monday.

I am learning
… that I am strong and I will make it.

Around the house... Laundry and a little straightening up.  Working in the Workshop.  Hopefully, I'll get a change to ready the front porch for good Autumn sitting.

I am pondering...  over my emotions and how to improve them rather than stifle them.

A favorite quote for today...

One of my favorite things... Lori Wick novels.

A few plans for the rest of the week:   Errands and working in the Workshop.  Hope to get in a bike ride or two.

A peek into my day...  Focus for the week.

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Isaiah 41:13 (King James)

  1. Hello...visiting from the Simple Woman's Blog...I am an emotional eater as well. My husband recently passed and I have found myself in the fridge more than I should be. Loved your quote. Will say a prayer for you today. Stay up, if you can!

  2. Great Day Book "Auntie" . I love that the blog is somewhere we can be honest and a little introspective. I too tend to be an emotional eater. If I am mad , upset , lonely , or overtired. Wanting to lose more weight so , like you I am praying for Gods favor and grace.
Love the quote you chose this week. It is SO true. Parents and peers , siblings and sweethearts all try (and do) try to manipulate us in various ways. A great point to ponder! Thanks for sharing . Have a great week ! Blessings , Lora

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Lora. Yes, I've had many well meaning people try to shape me into what they thought was best for me instead of letting God do His job. It's really a hard lesson on Romans 12:1-2, but I hope to really learn it. I hope someday, I can show the young women around me the love of God so that they'll not have to go through what I've endured.

    1. Thanks, Amy. I got the name from a classmate of mine. She calls her running buddies the Iron Divas and said I could use the name. There's a link to a detailed explanation on the sidebar if you want to read it.

      Have an awesome week!

  4. Auntie Shannon... I feel your pain. I have no self-control with food. It is a generational curse in my family. The main thing is the keep trying and trusting and making an effort. Hang in there and I hope that you find some sunshine in the darkness. The Lord is waiting to be the light and joy in your week and I pray that he scoops you up and cradles you in His arms.
