Five Minute Friday: "Finish."

Thanks to Lisa-Jo Baker at Five Minute Friday for the prompts.
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20:24 (King James Version)

Have you ever felt finished?  I have...many times.  I'm actually battling it right now.  Though my move was a blessing, the circumstances surrounding it were not.
What causes us to feel finished?  Failure, lack, illness (physical or mental), loneliness, name it.  It feels as though your life is one big toilet someone keeps flushing.  That someone is usually someone more powerful than you who has more, does more, and is more.  They joyously keep jiggling the handle.
The Apostle Paul said in the Scripture passage above, that he wanted to finish his course with joy.  I would like to do the same; we all do.  They key for me is to find out how to do that.  When my earthly life ends and I stand before the Almighty, I want Him to say, "Well done, servant."  Not, "Well, you're done, servant."

  1. Love this! Short, sweet and oh so to the point. I echo your last comment for it would be sad for the Almighty to say you're done, servant vs. well done!

    1. Sometimes I wish these could be 10 minute Fridays. :) There's so much more I could say. Thanks so much for reading.

  2. I think you're on to something here "Auntie". I also think if you met ABBA-Daddy face to face today, He would definitely say "Well Done".

    1. Not really. The goal isn't for my trip to heaven. That ticket's already punched. The goal is to bring others with me. I've not done well at that yet.
