Paint Me Baby!: The Simple Woman's Daybook for Saturday, April 27, 2013

Outside my window … Rain is washing the pollen away.

I am thinking...
about my future; my immediate future and my long term future.  The future looks so bright, I gotta wear shades ground to my prescription.  J

I am thankful...
for improving health and strength.

In the kitchen...
Nothing.  It’s too late to eat anything.

I am wearing...
My Kyle Comfort 5k shirt and a pair of black capris.

I am creating...
A crocheted floral wreath.

I am going... To bed soon…and hopefully I’ll sleep all night.  I was so keyed up about today that I didn’t sleep well last night.

I am wondering... about a recurring nightmare I’ve had off and on for years.  I haven’t had it lately (thank the Lord), but it’s been on my mind lately.  I'll talk about it some other time.

I am reading... Sunday School materials and Dr. Monroe’s book on prayer.  No, I’m still not done with it yet, but I’m in the home stretch.

I am hoping... that my financial situation changes VERY soon.

I am looking forward to...
the choral concerts tomorrow.  May God be glorified.

I am learning… more foods and situations that are triggers for me that I need to mark them off the list.

Around the house... Tonight, not a thing.  I’m tired.

I am pondering...   on another big decision I have to make.

A favorite quote for today...

Bill Gaither - "What's your favorite animal?"
Mark Lowry - "Fried chicken."

One of my favorite things... Wind chimes.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Choir concerts tomorrow, volunteering at Sav-A-Life Monday, and the job search continues.

A peek into my day...  Completed my second 5k race this year.  I had a great time at the Whirlwind of Color 5k at our local community center.  It was my first color run and I had a great time.

Spontaneous Combustion in the Upchuck Room: The Simple Woman’s Daybook for Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Outside my window … A nice warm day with a light breeze.

I am thinking...
about the senseless bombing at the Boston Marathon.  I don’t CARE who did it; it ticks me off.

I am thankful...
that my running coach did not run the Boston Marathon this year.  She could have been injured.

In the kitchen...
 Food.  :)

I am wearing...
My Kyle Comfort 5k shirt and a pair of blue jean shorts (that I can finally fit back into).

I am creating...
I’m actually knitting some baby booties instead of crocheting them.  It takes 10 times as long, but hey, I need to keep my chops up.

I am going... to choir practice tonight.

I am wondering... about myself (again).  I had Community Band practice last night and this is the absolute worst I’ve played since I joined.  I’m so not gelling…I’m sucking…BIG TIME.

I am reading...
Sunday School materials.

I am hoping...
that someone can get the air fixed where I work out.  I mentioned on my Facebook page that I nearly spontaneously combusted in the gym this past weekend.  I got so hot that I had to stop, sit down, and cool off to keep from hurling (literally!!).  At first, I thought it was so warm in the room because the "seasoned saints" had asked the air to be turned down (they always say they're cold).  Then, I thought it was just me because I was wearing a t-shirt instead of something sleeveless.   I went back Monday (in a tank top); more of the same, but I did finish.  Yesterday (in a tank top), I got through 2 minutes of my usual 30 minute run and started feeling pukey and had to stop. I still thought it was me.  Turns out from what the other patrons are saying, it isn’t just me.  If they can’t (or won’t) fix it, may I suggest closing the blinds to the big windows during the day to keep the room cooler or SOMETING?  Look, I love The Biggest Loser as much as the next person, but I’m not interested in joining the upchuck-your-way-to-fitness crowd.  Sheesh!

I am looking forward to... seeing the movie Home Run this weekend.  The last new movie I saw in the theater was Drum Line (and y'all know how long ago that was).

I am learning… how getting rid of clothes that are too big for me is a form of relapse prevention.  It is also a form of trusting God to help me replace what I’m getting rid of.

Around the house... Putting laundry away and possibly cleaning the inside of my car.

I am pondering...   on a big decision I’m trying to make.

A favorite quote for today... I have two today:

"For 24 years of my adult life, by choice I weighed well over 200 pounds. Now the reason I say 'by choice' is simply because I have never accidentally eaten anything." - Zig Ziglar

(Me either.)

"I don't know what the ---- was going on with the Scottish education board in the 1970s. It was like: 'Do you like whiskey? Do you hate kids? The job's yours.'"- Craig Ferguson

(Geez, I wonder if these same people hired teachers in Alabama when I was in school in the 80's?)

One of my favorite things... almonds.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Choir practice Wednesday, stitch night at the yarn shop Thursday, WWF at CR Friday.  Going to see the movie Homerun on Saturday.

A peek into my day... Keep me in your prayers.  I've got some big things coming up (hopefully) and I want to make the right decisions.

UPDATE:  They DID fix the air (Praise the Lord).  Now, if they will just fix the toilets in the ladies' locker room....

I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts: The Simple Woman's Daybook for Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Outside my window … Dare I say spring-type weather?!  **crosses fingers**

I am thinking...
 about California (yep, still).

I am thankful...
for the true meaning of the Easter season.

In the kitchen...
 Nothing now; it’s late.

I am wearing...
Jeans and my Home Run shirt.

I am creating...
Purses for the Honduras missions trip this summer.  Plus, I’m starting a painting.

I am going... to bed!

I am wondering... about coconuts.  I’ve been watching Craig Ferguson smash them open with his guests on the show and I really want one to eat. However, I don’t know how to open them properly, or how to get the “meat” out of them.  I don’t think smashing them on the table is the right way to go….or is it?  J

I am reading...
I’m back to the prayer book by Myles Monroe.  Lord, am I EVER going to finish this book??

I am hoping...
that I get some crystal clear direction for God concerning my career path.  I’m really trying not to worry or get desperate.

I am looking forward to...
the Whirlwind of Color 5k at the end of this month.  It will be the last 5k I do until I’ve got steady work to pay the entry fees.  It’s my first color run and I hear that those are really fun.

I am learning
… how I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

Around the house... Nothing until tomorrow.

I am pondering...   on how to learn how drive on the interstate without peeing myself.  Seriously, I need to be able to go more places than Gadsden and Oxford if I’m truly going to expand my horizons.  Plus, it’s a stupid fear that I would like to be rid of.  It’s crazy that a person who got paid to make accurate maps for truck drivers is too dang afraid to follow one herself.  L

A favorite quote for today... Which pounds are the hardest to lose? The next ones. – Me

One of my favorite things... the coconut lotion that the Dollar Tree carries.  If they ever stop selling it, I think I’ll cry.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Choir practice Wednesday, stitch night at the yarn shop Thursday, WWF at CR Friday.  Would love to “kidnap” my babies and go to the park and play or something on Saturday.  Having some friends over for “Chicken Sunday” after church.

A peek into my day...

(Maybe if I tried a shoe??)
