Crew Neck Pajamas: The Weekly Hodgepodge

Want to join the party?  Gallop on over to From This Side of the Pond  for the Hodgepodge link-up!

Describe love using all five senses.
  • Real love sounds like a laughing baby; purely joyous and innocent.
  • Real love looks like a perfect red rose; it has its thorns, but it's stunning and colorful.
  • Real love tastes like butter pecan ice cream; scrumptious.
  • Real love feels like a dumbbell; hard on the outside, but it builds strength.
  • Real love smells like honeysuckle after a spring rain; clean, and refreshing.
Now, if I could only experience that...
February is Canned Food Month. What's your favorite food that comes straight from a can?
Campbell's chicken noodle soup.  I don't dilute it with water.  I pour it in a bowl, heat it in the microwave, and voila
A principal in a UK school recently sent home a letter to parents requesting they (the parents!) dress appropriately when escorting their children to/from school (basically saying please don't wear your pajamas) You can read the letter here. It's gotten a lot of publicity, both positive and negative. Your thoughts? And do/did you ever make the school run (or hit Starbucks, Walmart, etc) in your pjs?
The only time I've gone anywhere in my sleepwear was the emergency room for treatment and Wal-mart for medicine after treatment.  As for as other people, I can't judge every situation, but if under normal circumstances a person doesn't care enough about themselves to be presentable, that's their problem.  However, a school or any public place or business has the right to make such requests within reason.
Saw this on Facebook this week
This question reminds me of my days as a preschool teacher.  The parents who cared least about their children were usually the ones who sent their children to school dirty and in their PJs.  The same attitude translates to adulthood.
Crew neck, V-neck, turtleneck, scoop neck...which is most prevalent in your wardrobe?
Crew neck.
I read here recently a list of four things to avoid so you wake up happier. They were late night snacks, hitting the snooze button, social media just before bed/upon waking, checking emails.  Are you guilty of any of these behaviors? Which on that list do you need to work harder at avoiding?
I usually don't eat too close to bedtime and I use my watch as an alarm and it has no snooze button.  But, social media or e-mail?  Yes.  I don't know if I would be happier if I didn't check any of those things.  They are usually my only true social connection during the week.  Maybe that's the sad part.
Share something you remember about a house you lived in as a child? Of all the homes you lived in as a child, which did you love best?
I remember the house we lived in in Wellington, Alabama until I was six.  Well, house is a loose term; it was more of a shack.  It had no indoor plumbing and our drinking water came from a well.  I remember the wood burning heater in the living room looked like a robot to me.  I remember the old car that sat in yard; I used to sit in it and pretend to be a superhero.
Quite honestly, I didn't love either of the dwellings we lived in during my childhood. One was the shack described above.  The other was a government apartment.
Your favorite movie based on a true story?
The Miracle Worker - based on the true story of  Helen Keller and her teacher Annie Sullivan.
Insert your own random thought here.
I'm way too tired to have anything meaningful to say, so I'll play a song from childhood.

  1. I totally agree about getting dressed. I feel better if I'm ready for the day. (Even if the day just includes a trip to the park...)
