What's something you take for granted, that when you stop and think about it you feel truly grateful for?
My ability to drive a car. That wasn't supposed to happen. I got my license late in life (I was almost 27). At first it was a wonder, but now I just jump in my car and head down the road without thought. I am truly thankful to God for this wonderful gift. The color brown-love it or no? What's your favorite shade of brown? Most loved something in your home or closet in a shade of brown?
To wear? Not a big fan of brown clothing. I have one brown skirt in my closet that I like. To create with? Oh yes. My favorite yarn color is Red Heart's "Café Latte." It's perfect for creating gingerbread themed Christmas items. I also like to paint with brown. Burnt Umber makes great tree trunks, rocks, and animals.
What's something you're looking forward to today?
Getting outside for a walk. It's been rather cold here in Alabama the past few days, plus I've been busy with the Christmas sale that I haven't worked out much. It's supposed to warm up to around 50 degrees today. Even if I have to go alone, I'm getting outside this afternoon. The word 'feminism' is not new, but it has been generating all kinds of headlines in recent days and months. What do you think/feel when you hear the word? If you're a woman, do you want to be described as a feminist? Why or why not?
If the word "feminist" was associated with it's true definition (advocating social, political, legal, and economic rights for women equal to those of men. ), then I would consider myself one. However, that's not the case. When I hear the word feminist, the first thing that comes to my mind is "man hater." Women do not have to degrade, detest, and emasculate men to win equality. We also do not have to detest and degrade each other for the same purpose. Current feminism has pitted stay at home moms against women in the workplace as if one is right and the other is wrong. The feminism mystique has turned the Christian church into a mommies only club--all other "wrong" women obviously hate men, hate God, and/or are lesbians. So, no, I do not want to be known as a feminist. Feminists hate men and they hate other women. No thanks. What's something you personally can't eat without making a mess?
Food. The big joke is that my shirts are always hungry. I'm not a particularly messy eater, but it seems that something must dribble on my shirt or my meal isn't complete. I never know how in world most of the food or drink on my shirt gets there. When did you last surprise someone with a little gift or when were you last surprised by someone with a little gift? What was it?
A friend of mine gave me some new socks yesterday, which I desperately needed. My warm feet are thankful.Share a favorite quote, saying, song lyric or scripture relating to gratitude.

Had a great time at the Christmas Sale at First Unite Methodist Church in Jacksonville, AL this past weekend. |
Speaking of gratitude: I've been feeling the icy grip of depression try to take hold of my heart. Some of it was exhaustion, some of it was disappointment. However, my gratitude meter has been on low and my thoughts have been more pessimistic lately. Winter is a hard season for me (yeah, I know it's November, but the time change and cold weather equals winter with me). I've decided starting Saturday I'm going to do a 40 days of gratitude photo blog. Each day from then until the last day of the year, I'm going to find at least one thing for which to be thankful and share a picture that represents it. Please feel free to join in.
Hello, my friend! You are so creative, and that always inspires me. I just picked up all the paints and supplies I will need to make ornaments. I think your gratitude photo journal is a great idea. I'm gonna whisper a prayer for you as soon as I hit enter. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for praying for me, my friend. Hope your holiday is awesome.
DeleteYes, it has been cold in North Florida as well and I would love to take a walk. I don't think we're going to see 50 today!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't gotten there yet, but maybe by 2pm, we'll get there. I have got to get outside. Cabin fever is raging.
DeleteIt's frigid here. It was 11 when I went to the gym this morning. I think your photo a day idea is fabulous! Some seasons are harder than others, so good for you for finding a bright side in the dark of winter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joyce. I wish this season wasn't so hard. Maybe some day, it won't be.
