Looking Out My Window ...
- About spring. Yes, I know it's only January and spring is a short season here in Colorado, but the days are starting to get longer and Lent starts February 16th. Spring, summer, and fall are fun to plan for and dream about. I do not plan to while away my winter in idle daydreaming. This season will prove to be fun and productive as well.
- For the wisdom of keeping a backup pair of glasses. I learned my lesson from three years ago when I had to walk around for days with a duct taped pair of broken spectacles because it was a holiday, every place that could fix them was closed, and I didn't have a spare. My current pair broke and the recommended repair shop is way in Englewood (about 25 minutes away). I was planning to take them in on Saturday, but we had snow (#ImStillSouthern). Though my spares are a slightly different prescription, they will suffice until these are repaired.
- For dine-in restaurants being open in Colorado (and other states) again. This is not for my benefit; I have a friend at church who owns several dining establishments and was distraught over having to lay off his workers. They are only open at 25% capacity, but it's a start.
From the Workshop...
As I said in my latest Auntie's Workshop blog, I decided to leave up my Christmas garland and redecorate it for the appropriate season/holiday. Here's what I put up for Valentine's Day:
With the holidays over, I will now put myself back on craft supply restriction and complete round two of the Get 'er Done Art Challenge until March.
From Auntie's Test Kitchen... Tried my hand at making a dump cake this weekend. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I wasn't thrilled with the one piece I ate, but that could have just been me. I put it in the freezer and I'll try tasting it again this weekend a let you know what I think.
Favorite Quote(s) of the Week ...
Glad I popped over from the Simple Woman's Daybook site. I loved the Jan Karon books. And I chuckled at that photo from the Andy Griffith show. As far as dump cakes go - check out the Chocolate-Covered Cherry Dump Cake on the Taste of Home website. I can practically guarantee you will love it. It is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteHi, Suzanne.
DeleteI did try the dump cake again and I still didn't like it. It was too sweet and the texture just wasn't great. I'll stick with making regular cake or pancakes.
Hi Shannon. Popping over from TSW Daybook. Enjoyed reading your daybook. I really LOVE your wreath and other Valentine's décor around your door :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh, it's been a bit of a long day so I'm finishing it off reading a few of the SWDB posts. Blessings
